BREAKING: Women like porn too! And Pat Robertson is confused about that.

This is one of those videos that I watch, and I’m not sure whether to feel enraged at the way Pat Robertson and his co-host, Kristi Watts, conceptualize and discuss women, or to laugh at his utter confusion at the idea that women are sexual human beings, just like men (or boys, as he refers to them).

So I just decided not to let this very confused elderly gentleman get under my skin, and instead I’ll try to clear up some misconceptions Robertson seems to have about women and humans in general.

My first problem. Robertson says that porn is boring. Porn is not boring. At the very least it’s weird, shocking, entertaining, horrifying, disgusting and frightening, just to name a few. At the very best it is caring, representative of real people, educational, arousing, and maybe even inspirational. It’s very rare to find someone who has never searched out at least one piece of pornographic material, click here for more information on that. Even Robertson’s supposedly religious co-host didn’t say she had never looked at porn. So obviously, porn’s got something going on to intrigue people.

Second problem. I like how his co-host pretends she doesn’t know the title of 50 Shades of Gray after almost saying the name of the book. “Me? Read erotic novels? Why, never!”

Third problem. Women like sex? WHAT!? I mean, come on dude! I know you’re getting up there in years and everything, but you can’t be that far behind the times that you are just now realizing that women can and do enjoy sexual pleasure. I’m sorry (but not really) to further shock you Pat, and you might want to be seated for this, but women masturbate too! And they frequently masturbate to porn! And I’m not just talking about ‘mommy porn.’ I mean full-on, hard-core sex, including anal sex, fisting, lesbian sex, trans sex, gay sex, group sex, kinky sex and beyond. Deep breaths, Pat, deep breaths.

Anyways, I’m not really surprised by any of Robertson’s confusion, and you probably aren’t either. I just hope that Christian men and women today (and religious people in general) can appreciate sexuality for what it is, instead of shaming and repressing it to a point where it’s acceptable for Pat Robertson to belittle female sexuality.

And this is reason #1, 432, 658 that we need more comprehensive, pleasure-based sex education.

Oh, and I guess you misheard God on that whole ‘who will win the presidential election’  thing, because Barack Obama was re-elected. Or maybe God got it wrong.
